MIKE DOMINY CD, ALCM
Mike comes to the Chief and Petty Officers' Association Band with an extensive military and community music background. In his twenty-two year full time professional music career he saw service with bands in Winnipeg and Ottawa before his final six years with the Naden Band. In 1994 he transferred to the Primary Reserve and the 5th (BC) Field Regiment band where as Operations Warrant Officer for the band he expanded his musical administration skills and had the opportunity to start conducting the band.
After a ten year career with 5th Field Regiment, Mike took the opportunity to work with the cadet organization where he has held a variety of roles supporting the musical development of Cadets throughout British Columbia.
After 43 years in uniform Mike retired from the Canadian Forces and now dedicates his spare time to working with adult concert bands. He is currently the music director of the Westshore Community Concert Band, an organization he founded, as well as conducting the Chief and Petty Officers' Association Band. Just to make sure his days are complete, Mike’s “day job” is an audio visual technician at Royal Roads University.
Mike is extremely excited to have returned to the “Chiefs” as music director and looks forward to continuing to help the band grow both in numbers and musicality.
